Zero Waste – Tip #1

So here we are, the start to hopefully a clutter free rubbish bin!

HOMEMADE IN THE KITCHEN

So its probably a pretty common Tip. But you make pretty much everything from scratch, yoghurt, almond milk, coconut butter, bread, even lentils and beans don’t just come in cans. Why not buy them dried, soak them, cook them! You will get loads more product for your money AND you can get them in the bulk bins. Supermarkets are making it much easier to just by pre brought just about EVERYTHING!

Almond Milk

1/3 cup almonds soaked overnight. Then blend with 2 cups of water. Add some vanilla and some dates for a sweeter flavour. Add Cinnamon.

Coconut Yogurt

Coconut Milk and Probiotic. Recipe coming soon.

Hummus

Soak some chickpeas overnight. Cook. Then blend with some Tahini, Water & Lemon Juice. (use oil instead of water if you don’t mind oil). Add roasted capsicum or Basil for a different flavour.

Bread

You don’t even need a bread maker. Although it does take a bit more love then most other homemade goods but its worth the trouble. There are so many easy recipes on the internet, even hit up Pinterest.

Simple Recipe – 330ml Can of Beer, 3 cups of flour, 3 tsp sweetener. Mix together (No kneeding) Cook for 50min on 180 degrees. Rub some dairy free Butter on 10min before its cooked for a crispy top.

I usually spend about 2 hours on my Sunday doing a bit of prep for the week. It makes a huge difference for making lunches easier and quicker. I head down to the markets on a Sunday also and pick up my veggie’s, I take my own bags. When I get home I wash it all and store it in the fridge so its ready to go when I need it!
